Let's Draft Shyam Reddy

For DPG Chair. That would certainly be a fresh, exciting start, wouldn't it? I'm not suggesting that those who have already offered themselves are not good choices, but at a point in our history when we need to rebuild, I think that it would be great to have a young vibrant chair like Shyam. Why him? He's smart, well-connected, can raise $$, has some statewide recognition (especially among dems), and was part of team that launched Red Clay, a successful Democratic organization. I think that he would also have the impact of attracting more young people to the Party. And he knows first hand about the need for the party to nurture and direct candidates so that we don't end up with several quality candidates in one race.

Of course, no one's asked Shyam whether he would like a fulltime job that pays no salary....but maybe that needs to change as well. Are you in?

I thinks that candidates such as Shyam Reddy and Scott Holcomb are a good example of the future of the party. I think we would be wise to embrace a leader who could nurture such candidates.

Count me on board.

Now there's an idea. He is a great guy, and a fundraising machine who could easily raise his salary provided the by-laws could be changed. I know of at least one other excellent candidate who has put his name into the hat, but who isn't a Shyam fan?

You know, someone should probably let Shyam in on this...

Even if he is not interested, shouldn't we put our heads together to make sure that the next chair is someone who has those qualities? Or if someone who has already decided to run fits the bill, support that person? The next chair is going to have the task of a major party re-build. Not a task for the faint of heart. Plus, aren't we ready for something different, something that will shake things up a bit? I'm thinking about the kind of transformation that happened in NC when a younger attorney was elected chair over a more experienced party leader. Can't we do something like that here? If we don't address this now, it will be too late to run a competitive race. January is just around the corner.

A number of people commented positively that he was the only statewide candidate that isn't a nominee now to attend the Russell unity dinner... Saturday night I was thinking the same thing!

I'm all for it. Reddy and Holcomb are the future of the Democratic Party of Georgia.
