Halliburton moving to Dubai
Halliburton's moving to Dubai surely does raise a lot of interesting questions about values and "patriotism." I hope they don't get any more contracts from the US government. Too bad they didn't take Cheney with them.
Well, if you take this to the logical conclusion, if the VP is on their board after his term is over, then he may be spending lots of time out of the country, and that could make this a safer place for all of us. Always a silver lining. But seriously, when it comes to values, their slip is definately showing. What they care about is one thing only: money.
The very rich sometimes operate in an arid world of their own, quite apart from ordinary ethical considerations. During WWI, French peasants mined bauxite which through a series of sales ended up being refined into aluminum for the lighter-weight planes that flew over France and bombed them. And so it goes...
I thought that it was the politicians who got their contracts from Haliburton, not the other way around?
ReplyDeleteDollars follow a very circuitous path.
